Some of you have probably noticed the site has taken a new direction lately. I debuted the Wife Life column a couple of weeks ago, and over the next couple of months I am going to slowly introduce a few more columns and categories into my regular line up. I am still going to review just as many books as I always have, but I want to sharpen the way that I look at books and reading. When I started the site, I had so may ideas. I wanted to shine a spotlight on books and literature through the eyes of a married woman with kids who lives in the South. Sometimes that view pops up, but for the most part I have stuck to straight-up book reviews. Now I am going to get back to the site’s roots and give you guys a peek behind the blogger.
The latest addition to The Well-Read Wife lineup is a new column called Southern Reads. Southern Reads will feature excellent writing with a Southern twist. Whether it’s a gorgeous blog by a Southern writer that I can’t stop checking for updates or a novel that changed the way I look at the South, I am going to showcase all types of Southern books and blogs right here.
To celebrate the new column, I am giving away a copy of the book Devil Sent The Rain: Music and Writing In Desperate America By Tom Piazza. There is no better way to celebrate a new column recognizing the best writing that concerns the South than to give away a copy of Piazza’s latest book. Devil Sent The Rain features a large segment dedicated to post Katrina America in the second half of the book and has sections devoted to the BP Oil Spill and the housing crisis in New Orleans. Piazza writes beautifully about the city that has become his muse.
Fill Out the form below to enter for a chance to win Devil Sent The Rain: Music and Writing in Desperate America. I will accept giveaway entries until 11 p.m. central time on Sunday, November 27th, and I’ll announce the winner within this post on Monday, November 28th. (Many thanks to Harper Perennial for providing me with a copy of Devil Sent The Rain. Check out Harper Perennial’s blog The Olive Reader. It is all kinds of awesome.)
